Lore's Antarctica Expedition

Hi! My name is Lore, I'm 15 years old and I come from Belgium. Ever since I learnt about climate change, I've been convinced that something needs to happen, fast. I started with becoming more sustainable in my own lifestyle; becoming vegetarian, adding a recycling bin, shorter showers, etc. But the more I learn about what is happening to our climate and how will affect us, the more I realise that these small changes are not enough - unless if everyone on the planet also makes those changes. That's why I want to become a future leader in climate activism: to make a real difference in the world and help society through a sustainable revolution.

When Darcy Winslow, President and co-founder of the Academy for Systems Change, told me about the 2041 ClimateForce Antarctica Expedition and suggested I join her in November, you can probably guess how eager I was to do so. Despite the high cost, I knew this was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and perfect for my aspirations of becoming a leader in climate activism.

Projects showing my passion for climate

If Nature had a voice - Cover.jpg

For my IB Personal Project (a project at international schools), I wrote a short book called If Nature Had a Voice about a young girl who learns about climate change through talking to a tree. I've sold 100 copies and donated all the funds to plant trees.

Our Future - logo.png

Together with Beyonders Foundation, I started a project called Our Future, bringing together 12 girls from all over the world to work on a climate project together, receive personal mastery coaching, get 1on1 mentoring, and mostly give each other hope!

I am one of two chairs for the sustainability council at school, the International School of Hilversum. We work with the students to make the school more eco-friendly and spread awareness about the importance of climate action to our school community.
