About Beyonders Collective
"You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete."
-– R. Buckminster Fuller
Origin Story
The origin story of the Beyonders is a long one that goes back many years. It is a weaving together of personal and professional lives through profound connection, breakthroughs, breakdowns, challenges and magical, sacred awakenings.
The source energy is Dirk, a thirty years Nike veteran, who was leading a multi-billion dollar business unit for the world-famous brand. Multiple inner quests and personal breakthroughs, largely catalysed by his daughters’ environmental activism work, Dirk took the initiative to set up the Beyonders Foundation in 2020, originally founded to empower young women to have a voice on a global stage to challenge leaders of global companies to take climate action. A few years later, Dirk took the leap to setup the Beyonders Collective as a consultancy, leaving Nike.

Cassia met Dirk on a Vision Quest in Baha in 2022. She was going through her own transformation from building global NGO’s and eco-systems of community and political activism toward a new chapter. A question was unfolding within her that could not be quietened. How can we transition to new, sustainable systems that serve life. Changing the world will not come through philanthropy alone.
Jamie co-founded JAM when he was 19 which became a global, boutique design, innovation and leadership consultancy that has been a petri dish of learning and experimentation for over 30 years. During this time, he has worked with global brands and partnered on some of the most innovative projects. His unending quest to unlock the creative potential of individuals and organisations as a force for good in the world led him into the relationship with Dirk and Cassia and having recently sold JAM, he is now a fulltime member of the founding Beyonders team.
“Why would you not start the consultancy that you know will help build a new and better world that your hearts know is possible?”

Founder's story
"Dad, what are you doing at Nike to save the planet?"
- Lore Van Onsem
This question was raised to our founder Dirk, at the dinner table by his 14 year old daughter as she was writing a book "If Nature had a Voice", about her eco-anxiety. He was VP Partner Management at Nike Inc. at the time and had to admit to his daughter he was not doing enough. After a long inner journey, he took a sabbatical and volunteered at Sinal Do Vale, a Biohub close to Rio De Janeiro, Brasil. Inspired by this immersion under the leadership and guidance of Thais Corral, he founded Beyonders Collective consultancy in 2024.
